Reading Lesson No2

Before you start the lesson please ensure you are comfortable with both, the sound of the Ivrit letters and the  Ivrit vowel system - The sound symbols.

Note: To make it simple, I will be using colours for the sound symbols to help you remember the sound they give the letter.  I will be dropping the colours as you progress through the lessons.

Sounds: E

The 2 and 3 dots (pile of Eggs), makes the sound E - They will be red  סֶ סֵ 

The 2 vertical dots or no sound symbol, makes quick sound will be Brown סְ ס 

Silent letter will be light Grey.

Sounds: E

  E = אֵ   /     E = אֶ

Remember: Bet has 2 sounds  and V

  Beh = בֵּ  /  Beh  = בֶּ

Veh = בֵ  /  Veh = בֶ

Remember: Gimel sound like ge / Je if it has apostrophe

 Ge/Je = 'גֶ  /   Geh = גֵ  /   Geh = גֶ

Heh = הֵ  /  Heh = הֶ

 Reh = רֵ  /  Reh = רֶ

 Seh = סֵ  /  Seh = סֶ

And so on...

Bed = בֶּד

Bay = בֵּי

Ey = אֵי

Said =סֶד

Red = רֵד

Hey = הֵי

Jay = גֵ'י

Remember: Alef is silent when it appears without sound symbol

Bed = בֶּאד

Said =סֶאד

Red = רֵאד

Jay = גֵ'אי
