Reading Lesson No3

Before you start the lesson please ensure you are comfortable with both, the sound of the Ivrit letters and the  Ivrit vowel system - The sound symbols.

Note: To make it simple, I will be using colours for the sound symbols to help you remember the sound they give the letter.  I will be dropping the colours as you progress through the lessons.

Sounds: EE/i

The 1 dot / Yud, makes the sound EE/i - They will be green סי סִ 

The 2 vertical dots or no sound symbol, makes quick sound will be Brown סְ ס 

Silent letter will be light Grey.

  Ee = אִי   /   Ee = אִ
Remember: Bet has 2 sounds  and V

  Bee = בִּי  /  Bee = בִּ

Vee = בִי  /  Vee = בִ
Remember: Gimel sound like ge / Je if it has apostrophe

 Ge/J = 'ג  /   Gee = גִי  /   Gee = גִ

 Dee = דִי  /  Dee = דִ

 Hee = הִי  /  Hee = הִ
Tee = תִי  /  Tee = תִ
And so on....

BeeBee = בִּיבּי

Bid = בִּיד

 Big = בִּיג

Remember: Alef is silent if it appears with no sound symbol

Bee = בִּיא

Dig = דִיג

He = הִי

Div = דִיב

 Jig =גִ'יג
