Reading Lesson No6

Before you can start the lessons please ensure you are comfortable with the Ivrit Alpha Bet and the vowel system.

This lesson is divided into stages.  Ensure you are comfortable with each stage before proceeding to next.  Any questions don't hesitate to ask, I am here to help :)

Note: To make it simple, I will be using colours for the symbols/sounds to remind you of the sound they give the letter.  I will be dropping the sounds throughout the lesson.

The Flat lines, makes the sound A - They will be black  סָ סַ

The 1 dot / Yud, makes the sound EE/i - They will be green סי סִ
The 2 and 3 pile of dots, makes the sound E - They will be red  סֶ סֵ 
The dot on top / Vav with dot on top, makes the sound O - They will be orange  סֹ סוֹ 

The 3 dots / Vav with dot in the middle, makes the sound OO - They will be blue   סֻ סוּ
The 2 vertical dots and quick sound will be in Brown סְ ס

Silent letter will be light Grey.

Stage 1

Sounds Aa

Remember: Alef is silent when it appears without vowels.
Remember: Hey is silent when it appears without vowels.

 Pa = פָּ
S = סְ

Ta = טָ

(Hey is silent at the end)  Pasta= ּפָּסְטָה

Ba = בָּ
Na = ָנ

Banana = בָּנָנָה

H' = חַ
La = לָ
H'ala = חַלָה

 A = אַ
Da = דָ
  (Final) M = ם
Adam = אַדָם

Ja = 'גָ
Z = ז
Jaz = גָ'אז

Stage 2

Sounds: Aa, EE/i

Pi = פּי
Ta = טָ
Pita = פִּיטָה

  Ri = רִי
 V = בְ
 Ka = קָ
  (Hey is silent at the end)  Rivkah = רִיבְקָה

Stage 3

Sheh = שֶׁ
Keh = קֶ
L = ל
Shekel= שֶׁקֶל

Sep  = ּּסֶפְּ

  Tem = ּטֶמ
